Frequently asked questions
Is SetRep free?
Yes. SetRep is free to download on the App Store, and building programs, creating custom exercises, logging workouts, automatic progression, analytics and importing from Strong or Hevy cost nothing, with no caps on how many programs, exercises or workouts you create. A premium subscription adds suggestions and adjustments to your workouts and programs, training insights, and program changes through AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT.
Do I need an account to use SetRep?
No. You can tap “Continue without account” and use SetRep with your data stored only on your phone. Creating an account with Apple, Google or email saves your programs and history to the cloud, so they sync across devices and survive a lost or replaced phone.
Does SetRep work with Apple Watch?
Not yet. An Apple Watch app is on the roadmap. During a workout, SetRep shows your next set and rest timer on the iPhone Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
Does SetRep sync with Apple Health?
Not today. SetRep does not read from or write to Apple Health, so workouts you log stay in SetRep and your SetRep account.
Does SetRep work offline?
Yes. SetRep is designed offline-first, because gyms often have poor signal: your programs and workouts are stored on your phone, so you can build a program and log every set without a connection. Features that need a network, such as AI suggestions and sync, will not work as intended until you are back online.
How does SetRep pick my weights and handle progressive overload?
SetRep sets the weight and reps for each exercise from the sets you logged last time. Loads go up when you are strong, and volume comes down when you are grinding, so progressive overload is handled for you. Each set shows how its weight and reps compare with your previous session.
Does SetRep track RIR or RPE?
SetRep tracks RIR (reps in reserve): how many more reps you could have done before failure, where 0 means none and 4+ means the set was easy. RIR sits beside reps on each set and feeds your progress and effort insights. If you would rather not log it, turn it off in Settings.
Can I import my workouts from Strong or Hevy?
Yes. SetRep imports CSV exports from Strong and Hevy. Go to Settings → Import data, choose the app you are coming from, and follow the on-screen export instructions; the support page has more detail.
Is there an Android app?
Not yet. An Android app is coming soon. SetRep is available today on iPhone from the App Store.
Can I build my own program?
Yes. You can create a program from scratch with whatever exercises you want, on whichever days you want to train. Program creation is not capped on the free tier, so you can make unlimited programs.
Can I add my own exercises?
Yes. If an exercise is not in the library, tap “Create exercise” in the exercise list and it is marked Custom. Custom exercises work like built-in ones in programs, workouts and history, and you can archive them when you stop using them. Exercise creation is not capped on the free tier, so you can add as many as you need.
Does SetRep support supersets?
Yes. During a workout, open an exercise’s menu and choose “Create superset” to pair it with another exercise. SetRep then groups the sets into rounds, and supersets show up the same way in your history.
Can I log warm-up sets and sets to failure?
Yes. Tap a set’s number to mark it as a warm-up or as taken to failure. Failure sets count as working sets, while warm-up sets are not counted as working sets and get their own rest timer.
Does SetRep have a rest timer?
Yes. The rest timer starts after each set, and you can set separate durations for warm-up sets, compound exercises and isolation exercises in Settings. The countdown also shows on the iPhone Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
Can I add notes to my exercises?
Yes. Choose “Add notes” from an exercise’s menu to note that day’s session, or pin a note to the exercise so it appears in every workout. Pinned notes are good for form cues or setup like rack height and machine settings.
How do I see my progress and personal records?
SetRep charts your progress for any exercise you choose and tracks estimated one-rep max (Est. 1RM) personal records. If you log RIR, it also shows how close to failure you have been training. These analytics are free for everyone.
Can I log or edit a past workout?
Yes. In History, pick a day and choose “Add workout” to log a session after the fact. To change a logged session, open its menu and choose “Edit workout”, or delete it, which removes it from all your devices.
Can I switch between kilograms and pounds?
Yes. Choose your weight and distance units in Settings → Units. When you import from Strong or Hevy, SetRep asks which units you used there, because their exports do not include them.
How do training locations work?
A training location is a place you train, such as a commercial gym or a home setup, saved with the equipment it has and the weights and plates available. SetRep adjusts your workouts to the location you are training at, and you can switch locations from the workout screen.
Does my data sync across devices?
Yes, as long as you are signed in. Your programs and workout history are saved to your account, so signing in with the same account on another device keeps both in sync.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and its workout data. If you can’t access the app, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will handle it for you.
How do I export my data?
A data export is coming to the app. Until then, connect SetRep to Claude or ChatGPT and ask it to export your workout history, for example as a CSV; reading your data through the connector is free. You can also share any single workout from History.
